Abu Dhabi: A conference on Near Field Communication (NFC) technology was inaugurated in Abu Dhabi on Monday as part of the ongoing Citizens ID Forum, an international symposium on electronic identity documents, which began on Sunday.

NFC technology enables users to do a number of tasks, including credit-card payments and access secured areas, through mobile phones.

Experts made presentation on the potential of the NFC at the conference.

Wide Media, organizer of the event, announced the formation of NFC Academy Advisory Board for 2009. The members of the board include visionaries and pioneers of the NFC technology community.
